According to Al Arabiya News, the Cultural Heritage Authority of Saudi Arabia has registered 624 new places and places of historical and cultural significance at the national level during the first quarter of this year.The number of historical and cultural sites at the official level in the kingdom has risen to 8,176 since the inclusion of senior sites by Saudi Arabia’s Heritage Commission. Jasir al-Harbash, CEO of the Cultural Heritage Commission The sites have been approved for registration. These include 38 archeological sites in Makkah and 5 sites in Madinah.
He added that 48 sites have been registered in the mountainous region, 54 in Al-Jawf, 52 in the Asir region, 35 in Tabuk and four in the northern border region. Al-Harbash explained that the Heritage Authority is authorized to register antiquities, museums and archeological sites under the second paragraph of Article 8 of the Civil and Cultural Heritage Law. ۔
